Keeping up an independent lifestyle at age often requires support by services like transportation, meal delivery, and repair services. The aim of the project PAGE is to develop a platform for delivering technology- based health services in home environments. The particular feature here is: The system does not offer just any available service but only the required and requested support.
The range of provided services is based on the detection of the users’ demands and desires within their own homes. Sensors embedded in the domestic environments automatically detect demand for support and therefore allow for provision of customized services.
Right now, this procedure is being performed exemplarily using the assessment test „Timed Up&Go“; seating furniture is equipped with a laser range scanner and force sensors so that posture during sitting, balance during standing up and sitting down as well as walking throughout the apartment can be analyzed. Supporting services are coordinated among participating supporters which is thought to reduce consecutive doctor‘s appointments. The technical platform runs on a customary, inexpensive set-top-box which is anyway available in a lot of households nowadays.
